How satsails works
🛡️ The Ultimate Guide to Your Satsails Digital Wallet
Welcome to the official guide for the Satsails Wallet. This document provides a comprehensive overview of every feature and function, designed to help you achieve full control over your digital finances with security and confidence.
Satsails is an innovative, non-custodial digital wallet. This means you, and only you, have access to your private keys and your funds. Our goal is to provide powerful, intuitive tools for everyone from beginners to advanced cryptocurrency users.
🔑 Section 1: Core Concepts & Understanding Your Assets
Before using the wallet, it's crucial to understand the different types of digital assets you can manage.
Asset Types Explained
- Bitcoin (BTC): This is the main, on-chain version of Bitcoin. Transactions are recorded on the public blockchain, making them highly secure but sometimes slower and more expensive. Think of it as a settlement layer, like a wire transfer from a bank vault.
- Liquid Bitcoin (L-BTC): A Bitcoin sidechain that allows for faster, more confidential transactions. It's ideal for traders or for moving larger amounts of BTC quickly without waiting for on-chain confirmations. Satsails uses the Liquid Network extensively for its advanced features.
- Lightning Network: A Layer 2 protocol built on top of Bitcoin for instant, low-cost payments. It's perfect for microtransactions like buying coffee. In Satsails, your Lightning and Liquid balances are unified.
- DePix Token: A synthetic token within the wallet that is pegged to the Brazilian Real (BRL). It is designed to provide a simple and private on-ramp and off-ramp using Brazil's Pix payment system.
- USDT (Tether): A "stablecoin" pegged 1:1 to the US Dollar. Satsails supports USDT on the Liquid Network (L-USDT) as a native asset and also allows you to interact with USDT on many other blockchains through smart contract swaps.
Security and Self-Custody
- Non-Custodial: Satsails never holds your funds or private keys. Your wallet is a tool to interact with your assets on the blockchain.
- Recovery: When you create your wallet, you are given 12 recovery words (a "seed phrase"). This is the master key to all your funds.
> CRITICAL: You must write down and securely store your 12 recovery words offline. They are the only way to recover your wallet if you lose or break your device. If you lose them, your funds are lost forever.
- Open Source: Satsails is an open-source project. This promotes transparency and trust, as anyone can audit the code to verify its security and functionality.
💸 Section 2: Getting Started - Buying & Receiving Crypto via Pix
How to Purchase DePix and Bitcoin
You can easily buy crypto using Brazil's Pix system. The process is identical for buying DePix or Bitcoin.
- On the main screen of the wallet, tap the "Purchase" button.
- Choose the asset you wish to buy (DePix or Bitcoin).
- Enter the desired amount in BRL.
- The wallet will generate a unique Pix QR code and a copy-paste key.
- Use your banking app to pay the Pix invoice. Once the payment is confirmed, the crypto balance will be credited directly to your Satsails wallet.
Receiving Pix from Others
You can also receive payments from friends, family, or clients directly into your Satsails wallet. Simply generate a Pix invoice for DePix or Bitcoin following the steps above and share the QR code or key with the person who will be paying.
- How Reporting Works: When a third party pays this Pix invoice, the transaction is reported to the Brazilian Federal Revenue Service by the payer, in accordance with local regulations.
- Provider Limits: Always ensure you are operating within the rules and transaction limits established by the payment providers involved (both yours and the sender's). These limits are detailed in the next section.
Privacy and Tax Reporting for Purchases
- Buying DePix offers enhanced privacy. As per Brazilian regulations, the transaction is reported to the Federal Revenue Service by our partners (not by Satsails).
- Crucially, any conversions or swaps you make inside the Satsails wallet are not reported by us. As a non-custodial wallet, we have no knowledge of or access to your private transaction activity.
🏛️ Section 3: Transaction Limits
These limits apply whether you are purchasing for yourself or receiving a payment from another person.
DePix Purchase & Receiving Limits (BRL)
To ensure security and compliance, DePix transactions via Pix have the following limits:
Limit Type | Details |
|---|---|
Initial 24h (New User) | Maximum purchase of R$ 100 BRL within the first 24 hours for a new CPF/CNPJ. |
Daily Limit | You can buy up to R$ 6,000 BRL every 24 hours. The transaction must be split into two installments of R$ 3,000.00, with a 30-minute interval between them. |
Purchase Interval | There must be a minimum interval of 30 minutes after the second consecutive purchase. |
**Direct Bitcoin Purchase & Receiving Limits (USD) - **Through our provider NoxPay
These limits are set by our partners and are based on the user's identification.
User Type | Limit | KYC Requirement |
|---|---|---|
CPF (Individual) | Up to $10,000 BRL per CPF per day. | If this limit is exceeded, you will be asked to complete KYC with the provider; otherwise, your balance will be returned within 24 hours. |
CNPJ (Business) | Up to $10,000 BRL per month (purchase only). | The KYC option for businesses is still being built by our partners. |
🔄 Section 4: Transactions and Swaps
Sending and Receiving
To send funds, tap the "Pay" button. You can either scan the recipient's QR code or manually paste their wallet address.
To receive funds, tap the "Receive" button and choose the asset to generate your receiving address or QR code.
The Unified Liquid & Lightning Balance
Satsails simplifies your experience by combining your Liquid Bitcoin and Lightning balances.
- Think of your Liquid Bitcoin (L-BTC) balance as your main, fast-access account.
- The Lightning Network acts as a payment rail on top of it. You can spend directly from your L-BTC balance when making a Lightning payment.
- When you receive a Lightning payment, the funds are instantly stored in your L-BTC balance. You do not need to manage separate pools of funds.
How to Convert DePix to Liquid Bitcoin (L-BTC)
- Tap the transfer icon (two arrows) at the bottom of the screen.
- In the top field ("From"), select DePix.
- In the bottom field ("To"), select Liquid Bitcoin.
- Enter the amount you wish to convert and confirm the swap.
Smart Contract Swaps: Processing Time
Internal conversions and swaps made through smart contracts (see below) are not always instant. They are processed on-chain and may take some time to confirm depending on network congestion. You can track the progress of any pending swap directly on the wallet's main screen.
🌐 Section 5: Cross-Chain Functionality
Satsails uses smart contracts to allow you to interact with assets from other blockchains without leaving your wallet.
Receiving USDT from Other Chains
You can fund your wallet by sending USDT from major blockchains. The smart contract automatically converts it to Liquid Bitcoin (L-BTC) in your wallet.
- Tap "Receive" on the main screen.
- Select the pair you wish to use, for example, receiving USDT from Ethereum, BNB Chain, or Solana.
- The wallet will generate a deposit address. When you send funds to it, the smart contract handles the conversion.
- A dynamic fee applies for this service, which will be shown on the screen.
Sending and Receiving Other Stablecoins
Your native Liquid USDT (L-USDT) balance is your gateway to the stablecoin world. You can send from and receive to this balance using multiple assets on different chains.
- Supported Assets: Arbitrum (USDT & USDC), Ethereum (USDC & USDT), Solana (USDC & USDT), Polygon (USDC & USDT), and Tron (USDT).
- How it Works: When you choose to send or receive one of these assets, a smart contract automatically bridges your L-USDT to or from the selected network. Dynamic fees apply.
📊 Section 6: Analytics and Portfolio Management
Navigate to the Analytics screen to get a comprehensive overview of your holdings.
- Metrics: View the total valuation of your portfolio, see allocations by coin, and track your performance.
- Bitcoin Country Flow: Access a powerful, integrated view powered by Bitcoin Country Flow, offering all sorts of financial data and metrics related to Bitcoin's global ecosystem.
⚙️ Section 7: Advanced Settings & Security
Viewing Your Seed Words
For security, you can view your 12-word recovery phrase in the Settings menu. Do this only in a private, secure environment and never store a digital copy (screenshot, photo, text file) of your words.
Understanding and Changing Your Bitcoin Node
- How Bitcoin Wallets Work: Your wallet doesn't "store" your Bitcoin. It stores your private keys, which are the secret codes that authorize you to spend your funds on the Bitcoin network.
- What a Bitcoin Node Is: A node is a computer running the Bitcoin software that maintains a copy of the entire transaction history (the blockchain). When your wallet sends a transaction, it broadcasts it to a node, which then relays it to the rest of the network.
- Why Change Your Node? By default, Satsails connects to a reliable public node. However, for maximum privacy and to eliminate reliance on any third party, advanced users can run their own Bitcoin node. In the settings, you can change the node address to connect your wallet directly to your own node, ensuring that only you are broadcasting and validating your transactions.
